Collaborating with Scotland’s best architects

Buchanan Street Subway Station Glasgow

Anybody working in professional services understands that we are only as strong as those we work with. We can have all the best materials and customer service in the world, but it is the people power that sets us apart from the rest. Since 1978, we’re proud to have been chosen by some of the best architects in Scotland to work on a range of awe-inspiring designs.

Why strong partnerships help
At Gray and Dick, we have a proud Scottish heritage, so we offer our services to local architects wherever possible. As their supplier, we are keen to share the same values and vision to bring their projects to life.

Perhaps one of the most important facets of a strong working partnership is communication. Our professional partners choose us based on our ability to communicate the vision, for example:

·       How the final design will look
·       How the space will be used and how the design complements this
·       How best to use materials to achieve the goals.

Our architectural partners need to know they’re working with trusted suppliers. As a business with more than 40 years’ experience and repeat custom, we’ve made a name for ourselves as the go-to specialists for architects in Scotland.

They’re also looking for quality. That means a demonstrable portfolio of work, knowledge of the strongest, most durable and sustainable materials, and a sharp eye for forward-thinking design.

Here are just a few of our partnered projects with architects in Scotland.

Theatre Royal Glasgow
We were thrilled to work with the team, who specialise in arts and culture, heritage and conservation, on the Theatre Royal Glasgow – an £11.5 million extension project that would restore the building’s classic French Renaissance design.

St Enoch Railway Station
We were proud to partner up with a multi-sector European supplier on their refurbishment of St Enoch Underground station in Glasgow, featuring two stunning glass entrances to the subway.

 Monifieth Parish Church
We partnered with an Edinburgh-based team on a £2.3 million church restoration project in Angus. The design was influenced by the Scottish Parliament and we were proud to contribute.

Ladies Lake
We joined forces with a Dundee-based architect to create the Ladies Lake project – a gorgeous clifftop house with panoramic sea views, aided by our glazing designs and featuring many Sky-Frame sliding doors. We’ve done a lot in 40 years – but we couldn’t have done it without our collaborators. We look forward to the next four decades!
