Eight-figure flagship renovation of a Scottish Heritage Museum

Gray & Dick have played their part in a eight-figure flagship renovation of a Scottish Heritage Museum, assisting with the designing and installing of a stunning new facade to the building which will now seamlessly blend the classic and the contemporary.
Paisley Museum, on the town’s high street is set to reopen in 2024 following a four-year long £42m transformation. The redesign of the venue which first opened in 1871 is being carried out by world-renowned architects AL_A, and is being led by OneRen who will operate the museum when its doors open next year.
An essential part of the renovation is the newly designed front with red, curved insulating glass. The complex glass composition includes a double silver sun protection coating, colour film combinations and a highly reflective AGC Interpane Ipachrome coating all installed on a RAICO Glazing System. The museum will also feature Proteus HR cladding panels in Rimex stainless steel, with Kier providing construction and infrastructure work.
The project is part of £100m of investment which Renfrewshire Council says will ‘use Paisley’s unique and internationally-significant cultural and heritage assets to transform the area’s future.’
Paisley Museum’s redesign will create a £79m boost to the local economy over 30 years supporting 138 construction jobs during works. The project is being funded by Renfrewshire Council, the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, the National Lottery Heritage Fund as well as a number of other private donors, trusts and foundations.
