Getting back to business

We hope you are safe and well, and coping with the challenges and changes that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought us all.

Here at Gray & Dick, we closed our office and factory back in March in accordance with government guidance, and since then our team has been working from home. We have remained operational and busy during this time, providing glass recommendations and design to both existing and new clients from our remote bases.

With lockdown restrictions easing, we hope that we will soon be able to return to a form of normality. Of course, our top priority is the health and safety of our colleagues and our clients, so all work carried out will be carefully planned and executed. We will adhere to government guidelines and strict social distancing measures will be in place on all projects.

In this changing world, many are unsurprisingly considering new ways of working as we look to the future. Working from home will become more widespread, and therefore home workers will require appropriate spaces to work in that are separate from other living areas, as well as positively contributing to their wellbeing and productivity.

On the residential side of our business, we have received increasing enquiries from homeowners who are considering adding glass box extensions to their properties, which can serve as a dedicated home office. A glass box extension provides a light, airy space from which to work, and helps to separate work from your home life. Plus, if in future you do not need this space for a home office, it could easily be repurposed into an additional living area or dining room. Read more about glass box extensions and see some of our previous work here.

On the commercial side, many businesses have been using this time to think about the type of office they need to suit their workforce and operations going forward, and starting to plan refurbishments. Enquiries about structural glass for commercial spaces are on the rise - glass staircases, glass balustrades and facades are proving popular as companies look to create modern, light and clean spaces.

We are very much looking forward to being able to meet with our clients again and to install the glazed structures we have been designing and planning for projects over the last few months. We will be sharing more updates, case studies and inspiration soon!
